      Yes if you do not own 100 shares, do not sell Calls on individual stocks. It can be very painful. A news event like a merger or other can spike the price of the stock. If you own 100 shares and the stock spikes, you are just going to have your shares called away at the strike.

      If you own 50 or more, but not 100, then just trim some off. If you own only a few shares, just wait for a pullback to add more.
